An intimate small wedding in Lake Como
An Intimate, small wedding in lake Como, the most requested region for romantic weddings!
Last summer, at the end of June (surely one of the hottest periods in Italy!), while I was very busy with our wedding high season, I received a new request. It was from a future groom from North Carolina, his name was Cornel. He was desperately trying to organize an intimate wedding for himself and his beloved Sydney in Lake Como. Moreover, he had a planning timeline of just 3 weeks for a group of 20 guests: their closest family members and friends!
Even though the timeline was extremely short, I knew that I could help him in planning a beautiful, intimate wedding. So we immediately sprang into action. Cornel and I had a WhatsApp call to get to know each other, and understand exactly what he wanted for his big day. I found out that his bride had never been to Italy before. And he himself had been to Italy twice, but visited just the main towns and never been to the enchanting region of Lake Como.
A small wedding in the charming Lake Como
In my experience as a wedding planner, and as a native Italian, I believe that this is the charm of Lake Como. Although you might not have had the chance to visit it yet, you can still decide to have your Big Day here! Lake Como is so charming, unique, and famous for its glamour. And at the same time, it’s so intimate that couples from all over the the world come to have their intimate small dream wedding here.
Back to Cornel’s wedding planning: we went back and forth with emails and WhatsApp messages every day for 3 weeks. Everyday we were speaking about suggestions and making decisions! For the venue, I suggested one of the most charming and refined villas on the Lake Como shores. A small boutique hotel with just a few rooms. At this villa it’s possible to rent space on the lake-view terrace for an intimate ceremony (without renting all the villa for your exclusive use).
Cornel and Sydney arrived a few days before to have the time to relax before their wedding day and to visit the area. As I said before, the temperature was hot. And while there were sunny days, in this region, the weather can change suddenly due to the Alps. Since the forecasts were changing rapidly the day before, it was driving my bride mad! She was rightly worried to have the rain on her wedding day (athough I was preparing my big, white umbrellas for them just in case!).
In the end however, we were very lucky: the 26th of July was a sunny, hot day!
The Intimate Ceremony watching the lake
For the flower decoration for their intimate small wedding in Lake Como, Cornel and Sydney desired something delicate and elegant. For their small ceremony on the terrace, we chose to have two beautiful large vases. There were “cafè au lait” dahlias, vendela and sweet avalanche roses, white lisianthus and scented eucalyptus. It was perfect, simple and beautiful. Sydney’s bouquet was romantic and beautiful as well!
To make it even more romantic, my wedding couple chose to have a harp playing during the ceremony. The symbolic ceremony had been performed by an English-speaking officiant who made it even more customized. Their little nephew brought them their Tiffany rings. What a beautiful personal touch!
The small ceremony lasted about 20 minutes. I prepared some little baskets with white rose petals that the guests threw in the air to celebrate the wedding couple.
The Riva boat tour to take your beautiful photos
After taking some photos with their guests, the boat arrived to take Cornel and Sydney to bring them for a 1-hour tour with their photographer and videographer. They chose the Riva boat, the most beautiful and prestigious kind of Italian boat famous throughout the world. The Riva boats are a symbol of timeless elegance and perfection, and they are perfect for wedding couples. They are built with selected and high quality materials and of course the best Italian craftmanship. To have a boat tour on this boat means to return to the charm of paparazzi and movie stars wearing foulards!
During their boat tour, the guests had cocktail hour and appetizers typical to the Lake Como region with Prosecco. On another terrace, everyone could relax and look out onto the beautiful lake. Everything was very intimate, and that truly was the best atmosphere for a small wedding in Lake Como!
The romantic wedding dinner on the Lake shores
The dinner was under the pergola in the garden on the lake. The guests of this small wedding were surrounded by little lights and enjoyed a delicious Italian dinner. Eggplant parmigiana, risotto with scampi and citrus fruit, Millefeuille with Chantilly cream and fresh fruit. And of course, at the end there was a 2-tiered wedding cake stuffed with coconut, raspberry and white chocolate!
The florists decorated with many small bunches of flowers and candles the long dinner table, making the atmosphere completely romantic and wistful.
I am so happy and grateful to the lovely wedding couple, Cornel and Sydney. I have had the honor to help them making their small and intimate dream wedding in Lake Como come true! Many congratulations to them, and to all of the beautiful wedding couples reading this article!
